Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit – Surreal Light palette

Hi there beauty lovers!

I bring to you a quick review of yet another limited edition high-end product that I just needed to get my hands on!

This is the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit – Surreal Light palette

img_4285

Just like last year, Hourglass came out with a beautiful face palette.  This year, the palette includes a Finishing Powder, 2 Blushes, a Bronzer and a Strobe Powder.  I didn’t pick up the one from last year because I wasn’t a big fan of the packaging nor of the price tag.  However, this year’s packaging is absolutely gorgeous!  It looks like marble! It’s very unique and really something I wanted to add to my collection.  I’m still not a fan of the price tag, which is $80. Considering the powders are travel size, I’m not sure that it is such a good deal…

Here are some swatches of the shades

(keep in mind that my skin tone is very fair)

In my opinion, all the shades are beautiful! However, I would say that this palette would work best on light to medium skin tones.  On my fair skin, the highlight and the finishing powder look a bit too dark/ too gold, and I have a feeling that the bronzer wouldn’t show up too well on a deeper skin tone.

In short, this palette is the most beautiful face palette I have ever seen! If you are a die-hard Hourglass fan, it is a definite must have 🙂 The blushes are fantastic and so is the bronzer. Keep in mind that the highlight shade is not very blinding. It simply gives your face a natural looking glow.  Personally, because I already own some Hourglass blushes and a bronzer already, and because my skin tone is too fair for the highlight shade, I will have to return this palette.  The makeup hoarder in me is telling me not to, but I know I won’t get my money’s worth by keeping it.

Did you pick this beauty up?  What are your thoughts?

Becca Cosmetics Rose Quartz pressed shimmering skin perfector

The packaging made me do it! 😄

How could I not, you guys? A limited edition highlighter in shiny Rose Gold packaging? Of course it’s gotta be mine!image

image imageI was far from disappointed when I received my Sephora box. I absolutely love Becca highlighters and knew that I could only expect a high quality highlighter.

image

I honestly like this packaging more than I like their regular one. And I love the little design on the actual highlighter.

image

The highlighter in itself is a gorgeous pale pinky shade. I was happy to see that it wasn’t too pink, and actually gives me a realistic looking glow instead of a super pink one 😊 It might have to with the fact that the shade is pretty neutral.

Here is a comparison of Becca Rose Quartz with other pink highlighters I have in my collection: image

I am very happy with the formula, but I do feel like it might be a tad bit “rougher” than the regular Becca formula. Yet nothing disappoiting whatsoever, just a quick observation 😊

It applies very well (I used a Morphe M501) and it literally lasts all day on my cheeks. That is a huge plus for me. I don’t have to layer it on a cream highlighter to glow like a goddess all day 😜

So, overall, I do recommend it. I think it will suit a veriety of skin tones, it is long wearing, not too glittery/shimmery and that packaging, come on!

It is Limited Edition and Exclusive to Sephora!

Click here to check it out if you haven’t picked it up yet!

LORAC Alter Ego Dynamic Duo Set

Hi there, beauty lovers!

As you may already know, we are in the middle of Ulta‘s 21 Days of Beauty event, which is a super exciting time of the year when Ulta has a 50% off deal on a couple of different products, every day, for one day only.  However, I have been trying to be on my best behavior and save up for the Holiday releases, because we all know that between the months of September and December, makeup brands will be hitting us with many surprises 🙂

Nevertheless, as I was casually walking through Ulta, you know, just “window shopping” 😉 , I found this awesome Lorac Alter Ego Dynamic Duo Set for $26, and couldn’t walk away from it.

fullsizerender-4
The set comes in 2 different “shades” which are Dominatrix & Socialite and Goddess & Secret Agent.

This particular set is the Goddess & Secret Agent which contains:

Alter Ego Lipstick in Goddess

Alter Ego Lip Gloss in Goddess

Alter Ego Lipstick in Secret Agent

Alter Ego Lip Gloss in Secret Agent

Here are some swatches!

I am overall super happy with the set:

The lipsticks have a very comfortable matte/satin formula that seems to stay on the lips for quite a while.  You can either wear them on their own, or top them with their matching lipgloss.
The lipglosses have a strong vanilla scent just like the Milani lipglosses, which I personally love. They are not sticky and are comfortable to wear as well.

The shade Secret Agent is a pretty plum brown, which almost looks terracotta one me, that can easily be worn to work, and is also perfect for FallGoddess is a fun purple-y/mauve shade that I might wear less often than Secret Agent for the time being, but that I will be looking forward to wearing next Spring 🙂

Finally, I think this set is a great value, as the lip glosses retail for $16 and the lipsticks retail for $17, individually. Awesome deal!!

Let me know if you picked up this bad boy, or if you got anything from the Ulta 21 Days of Beauty sale.  I’d love to know!

So, wanna see what I got??

img_3260

First of all, I think if you spent $35 or more, you got a cosmetic bag with samples.  I had to choose between “the more skin care bag” or “the more makeup bag”.  Of course I picked the makeup one, and here is what was inside…

And finally, I only got one item from this event, as I am trying to restrain myself… 😀  and it is the….
